FAQ

Debt relief questions from Broward County residents

What does the free debt review include?

A confidential, no-cost conversation about what you owe, who you owe it to, and what you can realistically afford each month. We look at your credit cards, payday loans, medical bills, and personal loans together, then walk you through the options that fit your situation: a budget plan, debt consolidation, debt settlement, or a referral to a bankruptcy attorney. You leave with a clear next step, whether or not you decide to work with us.

Can you help with payday loan debt in Florida?

Yes. Florida limits payday loans to $500 and one outstanding loan at a time, but many people end up rolling loans over or borrowing from online lenders that operate outside those rules. We help you list every lender, understand what you actually owe, and build a plan to stop the cycle. That can mean negotiating with lenders, consolidating into a lower-cost payment, or enrolling in a settlement program.

Will debt relief hurt my credit score?

It depends on the option. A budget plan or consolidation loan usually has little long-term impact if you make every payment on time. Debt settlement typically lowers your score in the short term because accounts go delinquent during negotiation, then recovers as balances are resolved. Bankruptcy has the largest impact. We explain the credit trade-off of each path before you choose. Visit our Debt Relief Academy to compare them side by side.

How much does it cost?

The debt review is free. If you enroll in a debt settlement program through our partner, no fee is charged until a debt is actually settled, as federal rules require. Coaching and financial literacy services are priced separately and listed on our Book a Consultation page.

Is debt settlement a loan or credit repair?

No. Debt settlement is a negotiation with your creditors to accept less than the full balance. It is not a new loan, and it is not credit repair. Forgiven debt may be taxable, and creditors can still pursue collection during the program. We cover all of this in writing before you sign anything.

How do I know if I need help or can handle it myself?

A good rule of thumb: if you are only making minimum payments, using one card to pay another, or taking new payday loans to cover old ones, it is time to talk to someone. If your balances are going down each month and you are current on everything, our free Chapter 1 and DIY tools may be all you need.

Do I need to live in Hollywood to work with you?

No. Our office is at 4000 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood, FL, and we serve clients across Broward County, including Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, Miramar, and Davie. Most debt reviews happen by phone, so you can be anywhere in Florida.

What should I have ready for my review?

A recent statement for each debt, or simply a list of creditors and approximate balances, plus your monthly take-home income and major expenses like rent and car payments. If you have your credit report handy, that helps, but it is not required to get started.
